More than 434,400 abortions were reported by Planned Parenthood in fiscal year 2024-25, marking an 8% increase from the previous year, according to the organization’s annual report released this week.

That amounts to about 1,190 abortions per day.

Meanwhile, the total number of births in 2025 decreased by about 1% from 2024, totaling 3,606,400 babies born, according to provisional data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The general fertility rate in 2025 was 53.1 births per 1,000 women ages 15-44. More babies were born in 1966, when the U.S. population was about 196 million, than in 2025, when the population is about 343 million, according to the American Principles Project.

Using these figures, abortions reported by Planned Parenthood alone would equal roughly 12% of the number of births in 2025 – or about one abortion for every eight births. (This comparison does not account for abortions performed by other providers or differences between pregnancies and births.)

For every baby adopted, Planned Parenthood performs dozens of abortions, according to claims shared by advocacy groups on X. Over the past 25 years, nearly 8 million pre-born babies have died at the hands of Planned Parenthood, and the organization has received more than $12 billion in government funding, according to those groups.

In its report, titled “Care Continues,” Planned Parenthood reported a 5% increase in government funding, totaling about $832 million for the fiscal year from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025.

“These tragic numbers show exactly why we can’t settle for a one-year pause of the abortion giant’s federal funding, which expires on July 4, 2026,” Live Action Vice President of Communications Noah Brandt told The Lion in a statement. “Congress needs to extend the defund and make it permanent to shut down the flow of public dollars to an organization that’s killing nearly half a million American children every year.”

The report also lists the nonprofit’s total revenue at more than $2.1 billion. Planned Parenthood said it served more than 2 million patients. It also reported that affiliates provided $3.7 million in support to more than 12,000 patients who faced barriers to accessing abortion, including transportation, lodging and meals.

The organization also reported nearly 320,400 telehealth appointments related to abortion access.

“In 24 states, Planned Parenthood affiliates provide medication abortion through telemedicine, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances to get the care they need,” the report states.

The report did not specify how those telehealth appointments were conducted or the extent of clinician involvement. Telemedicine typically involves interaction with a medical professional who reviews a patient’s medical history and condition, Dr. Christina Francis, CEO of the American Association of Pro-Life OBGYNs, told The Lion previously.

Some abortion providers outside traditional clinical settings offer abortion pills online without in-person visits, though practices vary. Planned Parenthood’s report does not detail how its telehealth model operates in each case.
