An 18-year-old Ohio school board member elected on a platform prioritizing student safety was arrested and charged with drunk driving Friday.

Brady Hall assumed his position on the Washington Local School District school board Jan. 1 after winning the general election Nov. 7.

Hall was pulled over Friday by local police shortly before 2 a.m. after he failed to yield to oncoming traffic, turning left as pedestrians were still in a crosswalk and then hitting a curb in a fast-food parking lot.

After failing multiple intoxication tests, Hall was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, according to WTOL 11.

At the police station Hall agreed to take a breath test, which determined his blood-alcohol content to be 0.14%, over the state legal limit of 0.08%.

According to local police, Hall had two passengers in his vehicle at the time of the arrest.

Hall began his campaign for school board as a 17-year-old senior at Whitmer High School, pushing for greater student safety in the district. In Ohio, 18 is the minimum age to serve on a public school board.
