Budding Roses is a Portland-based summer camp for kids who are in grades 4-8. Critics say the camp’s curriculum, which emphasizes activism and social justice, is just another ploy by the far-left to target kids with its agenda.

“We strive to provide a free, safe and empowering space for East Portland youth to learn, express themselves, and engage critically with the social justice issues that impact them,” the camp’s website states.

But kids showing up hoping for S’mores may end up being served a dish of ideology with a side of discontent.

In fact, materials the camp distributed online while the camp was closed during the pandemic promote extreme leftist views of race, gender, the environment and youth activism, as well as containing a strong anti-police message.

“Tear Gas for Portlanders,” for example, prepares campers for a scenario in which they may be sprayed with tear gas or need to help bail someone out of jail.

“Walking Tour of Radical Portland” recounts the area’s “history of radical organizing.” Another resource, “What is Police Abolition,” idealizes a society without police.

The materials also include camp crafts and music, such as a Black Lives Matter coloring book and a songbook of “Protest Songs.”

“We created these kits in the wake of the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and countless other victims of police brutality—and the subsequent uprising led by Black youth across the country,” the website explains.

In anarchist fashion, the curriculum even takes swipes at “mainstream” education.

“We believe in empowerment through education, while also understanding that mainstream education often reproduces structural oppression and disempowers youth, particularly low income and youth of color,” the website explains.

Far-left groups like the one behind the camp have taken over Portland, according to radio host Ari Hoffman, an associate editor at The Post Millennial.

“Portland right now is controlled by Antifa,” Hoffman told Fox News. “They defunded their police, you still have riots on a regular basis, you still have protests on a regular basis. And these people think that they’ve won.”
