Christian school continues to educate despite fire – Although a fire ravaged its building on New Year’s Eve, New Life Christian School in North Carolina continues to fulfill its mission. When classes resumed in makeshift spaces in the gymnasium, 100 students came back. “The first thing that my students asked me this morning is, ‘When are [we] going to start rebuilding?’” said teacher Jasmine Smith. Christian school located in former strip club opens enrollment – Ozaukee Christian School in Wisconsin is holding an information night on Jan. 24 for families considering enrolling their children next school year. The K-8 school recently bought and renovated a former strip club that will now accommodate as many as 150 students. Read more here.

Church and Christian school join forces – Ridge Avenue Baptist Church in Louisiana had empty buildings and Northeast Baptist School didn’t have enough space for its growing student body. So the church donated its available space. “We see it as a great opportunity for both of us,” said pastor Jim Wolfe. “It is a win for the school because it gives them more space and facilities to use, and it’s a win for us because it gives us that contact with families and the younger generation.” Read more here.

Christian school selects Teacher of the Year – Sumter Christian School in South Carolina named Maria Barboza as Teacher of the Year for the 2022-2023 school year. Barboza teaches preschool, physical education and high school Spanish. Her students and colleagues describe her as compassionate, patient and friendly. Read more here.

Christian school to perform Broadway stage adaption of Beauty and the Beast – Florida-based Spring Hill Christian Academy’s theatre arts program will perform the full-length Broadway version of Beauty and the Beast this month. “Our shows are selected according to our talent pool, but mainly we choose family friendly shows that can give students and audience biblical messages to explore,” said stage manager Jessica Doyaga. Christian school archery team hits its mark – Cornerstone Christian Academy in North Carolina had four archery students win state championships. Many others also placed and qualified for the upcoming national championships. Read more here.

New Christian school will open in Dallas – Highlands Christian School will open in August 2023 in Dallas, Texas. The K-6 school promises small class sizes, in-person instruction and educators with decades of experience. Read more here.
