A profane and angry Marxist middle school teacher, who makes much more than the average educator in America, is in trouble after her pro-communism, anti-capitalist views went viral.
The teacher, Rebecca Rothstein, of North Bethesda Middle School in the Montgomery County School District, proposed ditching the teaching of reading, writing and arithmetic for one whole year in order to teach nothing but Marxist, “anti-racist” propaganda, Fox News reports.
“As a teacher I wish we could do more with our students like teach anti-racism and how to be kind people,” she said in a TikTok video on her now-deleted account. “Does anyone else feel like… we can skip the math, skip the science, like we’ll do that next year. Maybe this year we focus on teaching our youth how to be anti-racist.”
She also promoted her socialist and communist views in another video.
“I had to un-brainwash myself from capitalism in order to fall in love with socialism and communism,” she said. “If everyone had the same amount of money, then money wouldn’t be worth anything.”
“F— capitalism,” she said in another video post.
Commonly using the F-word and other profanity, Rothstein gloried in the violence that accompanied the riots following the death of George Floyd.
“I am f—ing angry, and it’s weird as f— that you’re not. When I’m talking about the patriarchy or racism or police brutality, why the f— would you not be angry?” she asked.
North Bethesda Middle School currently lists Rothstein as a math teacher.
The school ignored Fox News requests for comments about the videos.
On the other hand, Rothstein certainly seems to be okay with money when it comes to her salary, according to data unearthed by The Lion.
“Rebecca Rothstein F in 2021 was employed in Montgomery County Public Schools and had annual salary of $79,676 according to public records,” states a page on GovSalaries.com, which is based on publicly-available data.
“This salary is 32 percent higher than average and 40 percent higher than median salary in Montgomery County Public Schools,” added the site.
According to the site ZipRecruiter, the average annual salary for a teacher in the United States is $32,927, with average annual salaries in the state of Maryland – which is commonly thought of as a suburb of Washington D.C. – at $62,560 per year.
That would put her earnings amongst the top 25 percent in Maryland, and the top 21 percent nationally according to statistics provided by the employment site.
Even still, she likely makes more now since the data is two years old and teachers with the Montgomery County Education Association received a 3.35 percent COLA increase and an automatic salary step increase in 2022 alone.
