A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. —Matthew 10:24(ESV)

Any study through John’s gospel will reveal that in virtually every ministry situation that Jesus found himself in, there were those who were drawn to Him and those who rejected Him. As followers of Jesus, taking Him into your life without reservation is to accept His friends as your friends and to know that His enemies will be your enemies!

These are two separate truths that are worth exploring. There may be friends of Jesus in your life whom you struggle to love. Continue to struggle until you can genuinely accept His friends as your friends. If there is a need for you to forgive, then by all means forgive. This is God’s will for you. The servant is not above his Master!

But the flip side of the coin is to know that the Spirit of God in you is the enemy of this world. And there are those who will never accept you because of who you are, but because of Who’s you are. They hated Him first, and they will hate you. Continue to struggle until you can genuinely accept that His enemies hate you. The servant is not above his Master.
