The country’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, has shut down at least 20 clinics across seven states since the start of 2025, the Guardian reports.

For comparison, only four of the organization’s U.S. clinics closed in 2024.

In March, the Trump administration froze Title X family planning funding for nine Planned Parenthood clinics. This included two in Utah, which have since closed; the federal funding accounted for 20% of the clinics’ budgets.

“The ways in which this administration is dismantling access to public health and public health information are really troubling and, frankly, force us to make these difficult decisions very quickly,” Shireen Ghorbani, interim president of Planned Parenthood Association of Utah, said in a statement.

Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, welcomed the news.

“After years of financial mismanagement, botched procedures, abuse of their employees, Medicaid fraud, prioritizing politics over patients, and focusing like maniacs on committing more abortions instead of providing actual healthcare, Planned Parenthood is finally having to face the consequences of its own actions,” she wrote. “And that means it is unable to balance its own budgets and keep its own facilities open.”

As Planned Parenthood closes facilities, pregnancy resource centers have expanded efforts to provide pre- and post-pregnancy help not just by opposing abortion, but offering tangible support.

These centers provide free services and supplies such as pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, parenting classes, diapers, baby formula, job training and housing referrals.

Voters on both sides of the aisle support pro-life pregnancy centers. An August 2022 CRC Research poll found 70% of Democrats and 62% of Republicans support giving such centers public funding.
