Atheist Richard Dawkins calls child sex transition mutilation, against biology

Evolutionary biologist and atheist Richard Dawkins called sex-transition “hormonally or surgically mutilating children” in a post on X Tuesday.

“Be nice? Yes, let’s be nice,” Dawkins said. “What is NOT nice is hormonally or surgically mutilating children, cheating your way to stealing women’s athletic medals, lying your way into women’s spaces, debauching language etc.” 

Dawkins reposted Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling’s post, which responds to the claim that biological facts opposing transgender surgeries are “too blunt.” 

Rowling, who has been vocal in the gender-identity debate for years, despite excessive media persecution and threats, pointed to what she says is the black-and-white truth that no gentle middle ground exists in biological reality.  

“Either a man can be a woman, or he can’t,” she wrote. “Either women deserve rights, or they don’t. Either there’s a provable medical benefit to transitioning children, or there isn’t.” 

She continued, saying blunt language is based on facts, not ideology.  

“The alternative to being ‘blunt’ – using accurate, factual language to describe what was going on – was to surrender freedom of speech and espouse ideological jargon that obfuscated the issues and the harms caused,” she said. “We’ve always needed blunt people, but we need them most of all when being asked to bow down to a naked emperor.” 

Dawkins discussed the same dichotomy in an interview on his podcast, The Reality of Poetry, saying it is “distinctly weird” when people claim to be the opposite sex despite clear biology.  

“Sex really is binary. No question about it,” Dawkins said. “You’re either male or female, and it’s absolutely clear. You can do it on gamete size. You can do it on chromosomes.” 

In another episode of his podcast last year, Dawkins again praised Rowling as “brave and courageous” and someone who “allows the tides to turn,” Fox reported. 

The biology of sex is a scientific fact, but feeling is a psychological fact, Dawkins said in the same podcast episode, saying he has “great sympathy” for such people. 

“What I object to is the statement a woman can have a penis, a trans woman is a woman,” Dawkins said. “I object to that because that’s a distortion of language and a distortion of science.”  

Meanwhile, recorded evidence this week exposed clinicians, doctors and practitioners who admit to “winging” sex-change surgeries to fulfill patients’ nonbinary desires, despite the lack of formal protocol or research, according to new findings from The Free Press.
