A 27-year-old man was killed after he used a rifle to shoot at a Border Patrol facility in McAllen, Texas, on Monday, the AP reported.
The gunman, identified as Ryan Louis Mosqueda, was fatally shot when federal agents returned fire. At least one officer was reported as injured.
Mosqueda was outfitted with a utility vest and used an assault rifle, officials said, and a second gun and more ammunition were also found nearby.
AP reports that the car he drove to the facility had a message written on the side, possibly in Latin, but officials did not elaborate.
An image of the vehicle circulating online depicts the Latin phrase Cordis DIE, which means “heart of the day.” One journalist on X described it as a mission in the video game Call of Duty. According to information online, the phrase in the game is related to anarchist terrorist group that seeks to destabilize capitalist governments.

Mosqueda was reported missing at 4 a.m. before opening fire around 5:50 a.m, according to the AP.
