Less than half of Americans blame Trump for the government shutdown – 13 points better than when he presided over one in 2018-19 – and his net approval rating has actually increased.
CNN analyst Harry Enten was amazed on Monday, contrasting a 3% approval rating drop for Trump during the last shutdown to a 1% bump this time.
“This shutdown hasn’t eaten into Donald Trump’s support at all,” Enten said. “This one is not hurting him at all,” he said. “It’s a different world. It’s no real wonder that Donald Trump at this point looking at the shutdown says, ‘You know what? It’s not actually harming me politically.’”
