Former NBA player, Enes Kanter Freedom, called-out WNBA player Natasha Cloud, who last week said America was “trash” after the Supreme Court overturned racial profiling in admissions practices that hurt Asians.
“Our country is trash in so many ways and instead of using our resources to make it better we continue to oppress Marginalized groups that we have targeted since the beginning of times,” Cloud tweeted.
The tweet came in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that found Harvard illegally discriminated against Asians in applying admissions criteria to help certain races perceived as marginalized gain more places at the elite university.
Ironically, Cloud seemed to favor some colors of skin and gender identities, who, she said, are “marginalized,” but not others.
“Black/brown communities & LGBTQ+ man we are too powerful to still be attacking issues separate,” added Cloud, who seemingly forgot that Asian Americans have suffered from discrimination dating back to the 19th and 20th centuries.
Kanter Freedom, who legally changed his name to add the word “Freedom” to celebrate the moment he became an American citizen, invited Cloud to go visit some other countries to which she could compare America, such as China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, Cuba, and Turkey.
He reminded Cloud that it was Russia that detained her WNBA colleague, Brittney Griner, for illegal possession of drugs and it was America that got her released from jail in Russia.
Kanter Freedom’s tweet came on July 3, on the eve of America’s 246th Independence Day.
“Just ask your colleague Brittney Griner how ‘trash’ America is. Calling America ‘trash,’ huh? Let me know when your season is over, I’ll buy your ticket and we can go together to countries like China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, Cuba, and Turkey,” Kanter Freedom said via Twitter. “I’m not saying America is perfect, but trust me, you don’t wanna see the other side.”
Kanter Freedom has previously criticized NBA players, including Lebron James, who were quick to defend China on human rights abuses while cashing big pay checks from companies such as the NBA and Nike, which had billion dollar deals with the communist regime.
Kanter Freedom told Fox News that calling America “trash” on the eve of Independence Day shows how uneducated American athletes are about the country.
“You know, calling America trash right before our Independence Day, calling America terrible right before the 4th of July, really broke my heart,” Kanter Freedom said. “ I just cannot believe how uneducated these athletes are about what’s going on around the rest of the world.”
In the Fox interview, Kanter Freedom offered to buy first-class airline tickets to some of the authoritarian countries he mentioned in his tweet so that the spoiled athletes can witness firsthand what a truly “trash” country – one that jails its political opposition – is really like.
“Forget about calling them trash,” added Kanter Freedom. “Criticize them and you and your family members will be in jail.”
He said, instead, the athletes should feel “lucky” and “blessed” to be in America, where they can say what they want without being tortured and jailed.
Kanter Freedom specifically continues to be an outspoken opponent of the regimes in China for persecution of the Uyghurs and Turkey, for violations of human rights.
Turkey, where Kanter Freedom was born and raised, reportedly has offered a $500,000 bounty for the arrest of the former NBA center.
He also claims that he was kicked out of the NBA for his outspoken defense of freedom against the Chinese communist dictators.
