Singer Forrest Frank is praising God’s providence and miracle-working power after revealing he’s been healed from a serious back injury that left him bedridden and in excruciating pain just two weeks ago.
In mid-July, Frank was skateboarding in front of his house when he fell to the ground and fractured his L3 and L4 vertebrae – two critical bones in the lower spine that bear much of the body’s weight and enable movement.
On Saturday, however, Frank announced he is now pain-free and that a follow-up X-ray showed no signs of fractures. Beaming with joy, he told fans, “I have complete healing in my back. No fractures – no sign of a fracture. So praise God – we saw a miracle.”
Frank recorded two songs while lying in bed, including God’s Got My Back – a “proclamation of joy in the midst of a trial,” he said – and Lemonade, the latter a collaboration with The Figs.
On Monday, Frank shared in a new video that he believes God carried him through the trial to display His goodness. The injury, he said, occurred right in the middle of a 30-day journal challenge, during which Frank was asking God for clarity about his future. It also came amid a social media fast. It also followed a tour marked by sold-out shows.
“I took like 55 days off of social media, deleted TikTok,” he said of the days and weeks prior to the injury. “God had just sent me through this arena tour, so I just felt the need to pause and say, ‘Hey, God, here’s everything. If You want me to never drop music again, that’s okay. If You want me to tour all the time, that’s okay. Like, whatever You want for me, I will do it, but I need to hear You, Lord, direct my compass.”
Frank and a friend, Noah, committed to the 30-day journal challenge together. During the challenge, he felt God prompting him to start documenting his musical journey – to record everything, including the behind-the-scenes process of creating songs. He responded by investing in camera equipment – and actually wrote and recorded two yet-to-be-released tracks.
But then he broke his back. Even then, though, he sensed God’s peace.
“[I was] overwhelmed with the presence of the Holy Spirit,” he said of the injury. “… I felt like God was going to do something good, because He’s always doing something good.”
Bedridden, he asked his wife, Grace, to bring the equipment and help him set it up. He recorded God’s Got My Back and then Lemonade.
Frank believes God had prepared him to record the viral songs ahead of time – so that he could then spread the gospel.
“That was the miracle,” he said. “And then suddenly my back is completely recovered.”
Lemonade rose to No. 1 on iTunes among all genres. Meanwhile, God’s Got My Back has nearly 1 million streams on YouTube.
Frank concluded the video by inviting viewers to surrender their lives to Christ.
“I know there’s someone watching this video who doesn’t know Jesus,” he said. “I used to be depressed, I used to be insecure. I used to be full of anxiety. I was not this person. I gave my life to Jesus and He changed everything. Give your life to Him.”
