Pro-lifers are rallying for Congress and President Donald Trump to defund Planned Parenthood after recent undercover reporting exposed the extent to which the abortion giant has also become the “leading promoter” of cross-sex hormones to minors.
“This is a historic moment for the pro-life movement and for people of good conscience and good faith,” Live Action president Lila Rose said in an event Tuesday to expose Planned Parenthood’s “transgender agenda” towards minors. “We are closer than we have ever been to stopping the forced taxpayer funding of the biggest abortion chain, Planned Parenthood.”
Live Action, a pro-life organization, released an undercover report last week indicating that Planned Parenthood is a major provider of cross-sex hormones to minors. The undercover phone calls with Planned Parenthood employees across multiple states revealed that clinics were willing to provide same-day prescriptions to minors as young as 16, even through virtual appointments with no physical or mental evaluations.
“This is all in the context of a national debate ongoing about whether or not the federal government will continue to give $800 million a year to Planned Parenthood,” Rose added, noting that the abortion giant’s latest annual report indicates it is “now killing over 400,000 children every single year in this country.”
Tuesday’s event was joined by Chloe Cole, a detransitioner who has been outspoken about the harmful effects of the gender-transitioning procedures she received as a child. She said that while Planned Parenthood has long been “committing crimes against humanity” through its abortion services, the group is starting to “shift” to also targeting children going through puberty. “They’ve started to capitalize on the confusion, the identity crisis that is happening in my generation and in the younger generations,” she said. “And it’s incredibly criminal.”
Cole was put on the transgender medicine “pipeline” when she was only 12 years old, she said. After she had distress about her body developing and changing, therapists told her parents she was transgender and said she would “almost certainly” take her own life without medical intervention.
“What the medical pathway looked like for me was I was placed on a chemical castration drug called Lupron at age 13 to stop my puberty, to stop my development, and shortly after that, I was put on testosterone to masculinize my body, my voice, my face,” Cole said. “And with that came a lot of complications that to this day I’m still experiencing. And I ended up having a double mastectomy, the surgical removal of my breasts at 15 years old, before I could even legally drive the car.”
When she later decided to detransition, she said there was “absolutely no support” from her doctors – socially, emotionally or physically – and she had to figure it out on her own.
“The problem with detransitioning is that there is no acknowledgement by the medical community, by these hospital systems, that detransition is even a possibility,” Cole said, adding she is “disgusted” by Planned Parenthood’s fast-tracking of gender transitions for minors.
Planned Parenthood’s website states that it is “proud to provide a safe and welcoming place to get gender-affirming care,” including hormone therapy, puberty blockers, transition support and surgery referrals. As the abortion group is using taxpayer funding to provide these gender services, calls to defund it have been ramping up in recent months.
One of those advocates is former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines, who also spoke during Tuesday’s event, noting that President Trump’s election was a rejection by the American people of the “absurdity of the gender ideology movement” and its backers.
Asked what her message would be to congressional lawmakers – including several Republicans who reportedly are opposing efforts to defund Planned Parenthood – Gaines said ,“We have to hold their feet to the fire.”
“We have to let them know we are watching, and we will continue to fight against anyone. It doesn’t matter if you have an ‘R’ by your name or not,” she said. “We will fight against anyone who stands in the way of protecting, maintaining the innocence of children.”
Both speakers emphasized the importance of “everyday people” stepping up to bring
about change.
“You don’t have to have a million followers on social media to have an impact,” Gaines said. “Every single person has a circle of influence. Use it.”
