Kidnapped American pastor rescued after deadly shootout in South Africa

The American pastor who was kidnapped at gunpoint from his South African church service last week was rescued on Tuesday after authorities engaged his captors in a shootout.

Authorities had located the kidnappers and Pastor Josh Sullivan in a car about 20 minutes from his church, CBN reports. After the shootout, which left three captors dead, Sullivan was pulled from the vehicle unharmed.

CBN reports the missionary, who pastors Fellowship Baptist Church in Motherwell, has now been reunited with his family.
