Over half of school board candidates endorsed by Moms for Liberty won their elections around the country in 2022. Now, the parental rights organization is releasing a school board campaign kit.

The resource includes a handbook about the role of school board members, how to fundraise, reach out to voters and interact with the media.

“When we both ran for school board we had so many questions about how to run a successful school board campaign, but nowhere to find those answers,” Moms for Liberty co-founders Tina Descovich and Tiffany Justice said in a statement provided to The Lion.

“This candidate toolkit is going to be a game changer! We are proud to provide this tool kit for candidates to have their questions answered while also learning how to run an effective campaign. We are excited to empower liberty minded individuals who want to make a difference in their communities and in their schools.”

The kit has a workbook for creating a campaign plan, including vote goals, demographics, platform, canvassing and volunteer recruitment. It also provides templates and samples of logos, yard signs, mailers and merchandise.

Candidates can also be endorsed by a Moms for Liberty chapter in school board or superintendent races, the website notes. Candidates must fill out a candidate questionnaire, be interviewed or participate in a forum, and be voted on by the local chapter.

If there isn’t a chapter in the candidate’s area, they can still sign the group’s Parent Pledge, which reads:

“I pledge to honor the fundamental rights of parents including, but not limited to the right to direct the education, medical care, and moral upbringing of their children. I pledge to advance policies that strengthen parental involvement and decision-making, increase transparency, defend against government overreach, and secure parental rights at all levels of government.”

In 2022, Moms for Liberty chapters endorsed over 500 candidates in local elections. Three out of four were first time candidates, and in all, 275 candidates were victorious, with more than 17 school boards flipped to “parental rights-supportive majorities,” the group reports.

The organization had over 50% win rates in California, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey and South Carolina.

For winning candidates, Moms for Liberty warns they are “likely to receive an invitation from your state’s School Board Association offering to train you. Many of these Associations foster the same woke propaganda Moms for Liberty is fighting against.”

Instead of SBA’s training, the organization recommended Leadership Institute’s School Board Member Training Program.
