The Trump administration has located more than 62,000 immigrant children lost under the previous administration, Border Czar Tom Homan told Fox & Friends Sunday.
“There’s over 62,000 children found by the Trump administration, children that weren’t even being looked for under the Biden administration,” Homan said in an interview with Fox. “President Trump saved over 62,000 children’s lives. Some of these children were in sex trafficking. Some were in forced labor. Some were being mistreated. I can’t even discuss some of the mistreatment we found out about.”
More than half a million children were smuggled into the U.S. and “released to sponsors” under the Biden administration, Homan said.
The Office of Refugee and Resettlement shelters unaccompanied children who are abandoned at the border until transferring them to sponsors, located across the country. After passing a background check, a sponsor promises to provide a home for minors, as well as ensure the child’s presence at any immigration hearing, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Homan said 300,000 children under the Biden administration were released to “un-vetted sponsors” and misplaced, with many trapped in sex-trafficking circles.
“President Trump committed on day one that we will do everything we can to find every one of these children,” Homan told Fox.
Many children are rushed across the border and then abandoned, often with a mere note, instructing border patrol officers to send the child to a specific person, state or address, Fox reported.
Homan said Democrats, who “want to attack President Trump every day,” are “complicit” in the misplacement and sufferings of these children.
“For four years, this has happened. Sex trafficking – historic highs. Children crossing the border – historic highs. Migrant deaths crossing the border – historic highs,” Homan said.
Today, border crossings have hit an all-time low, with “the most secure border in history,” according to Homan, who said he “looks at the numbers every day.”
Since Trump’s inauguration, the southwest border has seen 117,105 total enforcement encounters in the past ten months, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Under the Biden administration, the monthly average of border encounters was 185,625 – 37% more than this year’s total.
Additionally, more than 579,000 illegal migrants have been deported since January. More than 2.2 million illegal immigrants will depart the U.S. in 2025, Homan said in a post on X.
Homan told Fox Trump is “saving American one day at a time,” and he is proud to be part of that administration.
“God bless the men and women of HHS, ICE and FBI. They will not stop until we run down every lead on every missing child,” Homan said on X. “President Trump proves every day why he is the greatest President in my lifetime.”
