Jesus is on display at Ohio State!

As Ohio State Buckeyes players arrived for fall football camp last week, a significant number wore shirts featuring prominent Christian messages. Their photos are now spreading on social media.

At least 21 players for the storied program arrived at the team hotel with shirts saying, “Follow Jesus,” “Jesus Won,” “Jesus Saves,” “God Got Me” “Just Here To Give God Glory,” and other faith slogans.

Although some commenters objected to the images being posted on pages such as the official Ohio State Football page, most reactions were overwhelmingly positive.

“THE JESUS SHIRTS ARE EVERYTHING!! I LOVE OHIO STATE,” one said. Another added, “Man, I’m loving the way my favorite team is reppin’ the King of Kings.”

The comments even crossed a bridge between perhaps the most bitter rivalry in college sports as fans of arch-rival University of Michigan couldn’t help but celebrate.

“Michigan fan here, I have gained so much respect for this program after this post,” said one, while another admitted it was “So hard to root against these guys seeing them with the Jesus Won shirts on.”

“Michigan fan will always support Jesus. God is bigger than rivalries 🙏🙌,” another fan added.

Buckeye running back TreVeyon Henderson shared pictures of the team arriving in gear from Jesus Won Apparel, which has also created a line of team gear for Asbury University. Henderson captioned the images on Instagram by saying

“Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood to pay the price for our sins so our sins can be forgiven and we can be made right with God, and three days later he rose, overcoming the power of sin that leads to eternal death, so we can receive eternal life and enter the Kingdom of Heaven!”

Henderson’s bio says, “Jesus Saved My Life | Servant of Jesus Christ.”

He recently shared a collaborative post with a handful of his Buckeye teammates announcing a Fall Kickoff Event for the community, an “evening filled with testimonies, music, baptisms, food, and fun.” The event, on Aug. 25, is a collaboration between the multitude of believers on the OSU football team and multiple campus ministries at the university.

Wide Receiver Kamryn Babb explained the heart behind the event on Instagram

“Jesus has moved in the hearts of many young men over the years on the Ohio State football team. There are so many people just like us who have been hurt and have been lost in the world. Whether you believe in Jesus or don’t. We want to invite EVERYONE to come gather to experience the love of Christ together.”

Another collaborator on the post was tight end Gee Scott Jr., who recently had the honor of baptizing seven of his Buckeye teammates after preaching at a local church in Ohio. Scott regularly shares the gospel with his teammates and boldly stands for Jesus.

The Buckeyes kick off the season as the Number 2 program in the country against Akron on Aug. 31.
