As more transgender athletes rack up wins in high school girls’ sports, more parents are speaking out against the policies that allow it, citing fairness.

One such parent is speaking out after a transgender athlete won the California-Nevada high school girls’ skiing championship by a staggering 17 seconds.

“It’s not fair on the girls,” the father told the Daily Mail last week, wishing to remain anonymous due to potential backlash. “I’m all about being inclusive and accepting people, but they have men racing in women’s sports.”

The winner, June Watterson, is a sophomore at Davis Senior High School in Davis, California, and won the girls’ state title on Mar. 6 with a time of 1:08:29.

But last year, Watterson competed on the boys’ ski team and continues to compete on the boys’ team for cycling.

“It’s pretty clear to me or anyone with a brain that if you are going through or have gone through male puberty then you should only race against people who have gone through male puberty,” the father also said.

In California, criticism of two trans-identifying male track athletes who made state in the girls’ 1600-meter race grew so strong, the competitors reportedly didn’t compete in the championship.

Protestors at the state-qualifying track meet held up signs that read, “protect female sports,” but were removed from the premises by security.

“They’re kicking us out because we care about women and girls,” one protestor reportedly said.

A parent whose daughter didn’t advance after losing to one of the trans athletes at the same meet spoke of the unfairness.

“I’m absolutely opposed to it. There’s no way this should be allowed,” the parent said. “I 100% percent empathize with the need to belong and the desire to compete. [However,] you have to understand how hard these girls work to do this.”

At least 21 states have banned transgender students from participating in sports that do not align with their birth sex.
