Public libraries in cities across the country are carrying a book written by two liberals to promote abortion to children.
Authors Carly Manes and Mar Erazo wrote the pro-abortion book What’s An Abortion Anyway? targeting children under 13 years old, according to GoodReads.
Since it was published, public libraries in Boston, Brooklyn, Bellevue (Washington) and Huber Heights (Ohio), among other cities, have made the book freely available to children.
A dozen Boston Public Library branches carry the book, for example. The same is true at nine Brooklyn Public Library branches and 12 King County Library System (Washington) branches, including locations in cities like Bellevue, Redmond, and Federal Way. Public libraries in Huber Heights, Ohio; and Telluride, Colorado, have one copy each.
The authors want the book in as many children’s sections of libraries as possible, they admitted in a fundraiser for the work.
“We believe in building a world for kids and adults where abortion is normalized as another outcome of pregnancy, just like miscarriage and birth,” the authors wrote on their Kickstarter. “Having this book in the children’s section of libraries next to all of the books about pregnancy is one of the ways we hope to do that.”
The book tells children that women should be allowed to have abortions for any reason at any stage of pregnancy.
“Some people have abortions because they can’t take care of a new baby right now,” the book claims. “Some people have abortions because their doctors say pregnancy could make them sick. No matter the reason, everyone should be able to make this decision for themselves.”
Having abortions can make women happy, the book also says.
“People have many different feelings before, during, and after their abortion,” reads one passage.“Some people want to talk about it, and some people don’t. Some people feel happy or calm. Some people feel sad or lonely. Many people feel all of these things at the same time.”
However, the book never tells children that abortion ends a human life. Instead, it tells them that abortion stops “growing” a pregnancy:
“An abortion is when someone decides to stop growing their pregnancy. There are many different ways that people who are pregnant can have an abortion.
“Some people see a doctor who does a special procedure to remove the pregnancy from inside a person’s body. Other people take medicine to stop the pregnancy from growing bigger.”
The book’s Facebook page has almost exclusively negative reviews.
