(Daily Caller News Foundation) – Republican Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz will introduce legislation on Friday that would allow students and staff to pray in school without fear of any negative consequences.

The Daily Caller first obtained a copy of the legislation, which is titled the “National Prayer in School Act.” Gaetz announced his intention to introduce this legislation at Turning Point Action’s 2023 Action Conference in July. The bill would specifically enforce the Supreme Court’s June 2022 ruling in favor of religious freedom. The court sided with a football coach who was fired by his school district for using his First Amendment right to pray before games.

The bill would allow every person to engage in prayer in school.

“God’s reach does not stop at the schoolhouse gates. Our country’s education policy forbids students and faculty from praying while endlessly promoting degenerate LGBT and anti-White propaganda,” Gaetz told the Caller before introducing the bill.

“My legislation unlocks religious freedom once again so that in every classroom in America, there will be time for students to pray if they choose,” Gaetz added.

Schools across the U.S. have been trying to ban prayer on their campuses for years. On Tuesday, Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita announced a fourth edition of the “Indiana Parent’s Bill of Rights” giving protections for religious liberty in public schools.
