The decapitated bodies of 70 Christians have been found in a church in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The victims are suspected to have been killed by an “Islamist group of Ugandan origin affiliated with the Islamic State,” according to Open Doors, an international organization helping persecuted Christians, as reported by Newsweek.
Open Doors says the bodies were discovered late last week in a church in Kasanga, located in the province of North Kivu. The victims were reportedly kidnapped on Feb. 12.
“Local sources suspect the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), an Islamist group of Ugandan origin affiliated with the Islamic State, as well as local armed groups of being responsible for the massacre. These groups have maintained a climate of terror in the region for several months,” the agency said, according to Newsweek.
