Secretary of State Marco Rubio released an Easter-tribute video on X Sunday that proclaimed the gospel and received more than 4.5 million views in less than 24 hours.
In 80 seconds, Rubio summarizes the Bible’s story in four parts: Creation, Fall, Redemption, Glorification.
“We were all created, every single one of us before the beginning of time, by the hands of the God of the universe,” he says.
The video depicts various moving images of the earth, heavens and the cross with Rubio’s words, originally delivered at Charlie Kirk’s memorial service last year, overlaying the footage. He explains how Christ’s death and resurrection more than 2000 years ago still impact humanity today.
“Because He took on that death, because He carried that cross, we were freed from the sin that separated us from Him. And when He returns there will be a new heaven and a new earth…”
Rubio posted the video with the historical Christian Easter proclamation, “He is Risen,” as the caption. The Department of State reposted the video, with the response, “He is Risen Indeed.”
Rubio’s video is one of many Easter tributes from the Trump administration, including posts from Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, the Department of Justice, and the Department of Homeland Security, according to Politico.
President Trump also issued two Easter proclamations: one on Good Friday, which celebrated “the promise of redemption and the hope of eternal life,” and the other on Easter Sunday, which named Trump as a “fierce defender of the Christian faith,” calling such faith “a foundational strength of our Republic.”
