Actor and evangelist Kirk Cameron released his new book, Pride Comes Before the Fall, on June 1, the first day of LGBT Pride month.
The children’s book discusses the importance of humility, and is the second book Cameron has published with BRAVE Books.
“[I am] concerned about the direction our culture has been heading for decades,” Cameron told the Christian Broadcasting Network in an interview.
“We have historical heroes that thrill us like the Pilgrims and Martin Luther King and George Washington and Abraham Lincoln,” Cameron continued. “And there is a need for a new generation of liberty men and women to rise up, and I want to be counted among them.”
Cameron, a former child actor turned born-again Christian, has made headlines by promoting his first book, As You Grow, at public libraries around the nation – a stark contrast to the rising trend of drag queen story hours. Spanning from coast to coast, the events have drawn huge crowds everywhere from Arizona to New York City.
Cameron told CBN the events sometime exceed a building’s capacity, and people who can’t get into the room will burst into praise and worship songs.
“The spirit of God and of revival and of awakening is moving across America,” he said. “If you want to help turn the nation around by investing in the hearts and minds of children in the next generation, a great, fun way to do it that your kids will thank you for is [to] subscribe to the book of the month club at bravebooks.com.”
BRAVE Books was created to provide “an alternative to the current progressive agenda dominating children’s literature” and instead foster the values of “freedom, truth, humility, bravery, and compassion.”
Cameron ended with an exhortation to fellow Christians not to despair when culture is corrupted.
“Do what you can where you are,” he concluded. “God never said, ‘Fear them [tyrants and secular authorities].’ He said, ‘Fear me.’”
