Iowa Christian school receives $40,000 STEM grant – Sioux Center Christian School received one of Iowa’s “STEM BEST” grants worth $40,000. The school plans to put the funds toward lab equipment and learning resources. “We’re ecstatic about receiving this grant from the Iowa STEM advisory council,” said Paul Ross, the school’s development director. “It will be a tremendous help as we plan for and build our new science lab to help students engage in the wonders God has designed in math and science, and dream of how they can impact His world with those skills.” Read more here.
Kindergartener fundraises for the elderly to celebrate her birthday – A kindergarten student from Chattanooga Christian School in Tennessee is using her birthday as an opportunity to give back. This year, Charlie Smith hosted a donation drive for Summit View Senior Community. Local media reported Smith raised $3,500. Read more here.
Washington Christian school add new junior high wing – Cascade Christian Schools in Puyallup, Washington, just opened a new junior high building expansion. The wing is 19,000 square feet and includes classrooms and STEM labs. “We are extremely grateful and excited for the opportunity this building gives us to provide an excellent Christ-centered education to a growing number of families,” said Dr. Ken Friesen, superintendent of the schools. Christian school wins big at state academic competition – Harrells Christian Academy sent its Senior Beta Club to the North Carolina Beta Convention where they competed against other high schoolers from the state in various quiz bowls and talent competitions. Their achievements included first place wins in Biomedical Health Science, French, Painting, Performing Arts and Woodworking. Read more here.
