Classical Christian school continues growth – Mirus Academy, a classical Christian school in Ellsworth Maine, has grown from four students to 83 in just nine years. Aaron Hanson, Mirus’ headmaster, co-founded the school with his wife Anna after they observed a lack of alternatives in their area. “He just came home one day and was like, ‘I think we need to start a school,’” recalled Anna, the school’s current director of development. High school senior wins DAR Good Citizen Award – Phoebe Breshears of Northlake Christian School in Covington, Louisiana, won the local Daughters of the American Revolution’s Good Citizen Award for her leadership, patriotism and service. “Phoebe Breshears is a young lady of high moral character, intellect, and a genuine joy to be around,” wrote Molly VanderWeit, her guidance counselor. Alabama high school breaks ground on new building – Lindsay Lane Christian Academy in Alabama began construction on its new high school on Monday. The school serves over 650 students and emphasizes godly character, Biblical truth, and academic excellence. Read more here.
New Christian school to start up in small Idaho town – Local residents in White Bird, Idaho, are starting a non-profit Christian school. The community’s Recreation Board will provide a meeting space and other costs will be covered by monthly tuition, which is just $125 per student. The school committee is beginning to hire teachers in anticipation of having 20 or more students. Read more here.
