A male transgender athlete helped a Minnesota high school softball team win a state championship last week.

Champlin Park High School pitcher and junior Marissa Rothenberger, a transgender athlete, dominated on the mound in the state title game, Fox News reports.

Rothenberger threw a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits while striking out six batters in the championship game. Champlin Park won 6-0.

The 6-foot pitcher threw multiple shutouts during the season.

As previously reported by The Lion, the athlete’s mother applied to have her child’s name and sex altered on birth records. The sex change application from male to female happened in June 2017.

Meanwhile, Minnesota is under federal investigation for allowing males to compete in women’s sports. President Donald Trump signed an executive order in February directing federal agencies to withhold funding from states letting males compete in women’s sports.

The Trump administration will hold the state accountable for any violations of federal law, White House spokesman Harrison Fields told Fox News.

“President Trump is protecting women in sports and restoring common sense,” he said. “Those who choose to violate federal law will be held accountable.”
