President Donald Trump on Saturday announced the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in an overnight raid.

“The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country. This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement,” Trump posted to TruthSocial, adding that more details would follow at a late-morning press conference.

CBS News reports the U.S. Army’s Delta Force, a special forces unit, executed the operation.

Trump told Fox News the U.S. will be “very much” involved in Venezuela’s next steps.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi posted to X on Saturday, writing Maduro and his wife have been indicted on drug related charges and “will soon face the full wrath of American justice on American soil in American courts.”
