A public university in Michigan will offer a pronoun seminar that costs $600 for some to attend in the new year.

The Spectrum Center at the University of Michigan will host a two-hour workshop called “Pronouns 101” on Jan. 29, according to the event website.

While the school does not charge students and staff for these workshops, the public must pay $600, Campus Reform reports

“During this 2-hour interactive workshop, participants will learn about pronouns, gender inclusive language, and the significance to queer and trans communities,” the course website says.

The workshop’s learning objectives include the following:

1. Normalize the use of various pronouns.

2. Identify two inclusive practices for sharing your pronouns.

3. Understand the impact of using people’s affirming pronouns.

4. Apply one action-oriented goal to be more inclusive of trans & nonbinary people.

The Spectrum Center touts itself as the “first-ever campus gender and sexuality resource center.”

“Through education, research, and community building, the center works to enhance campus experiences, increase belonging, and help students thrive,” its landing page says

“We serve and support members of the U-M’s LGBTQIA2S+ communities and strive to create a campus where people of all sexualities and genders are welcome, included, and valued.”

The Spectrum Center and its workshops may be funded in part by the school’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion program, which costs over $18 million annually.
