Theologian Wesley Huff shares the gospel and argues for the historical credibility of Christ’s resurrection in a new Easter tribute video, released in the leadup to Easter, that has drawn hundreds of thousands of views.
“He was led to a Roman cross, suffered and died. He was placed in a tomb,” Huff says in the video. “And on the third day, He stood up and walked out, proving that He was who He said He was: The Son of God. The true Messiah, who came to earth to break the power of sin and death.”
The five-minute video, produced with Childlike Media, portrays scenes of the Last Supper, Christ’s arrest and His crucifixion, as Huff outlines how “everything hinged on the empty tomb.”
“‘If Christ is not raised, then our faith is in vain,’” he says, quoting the Apostle Paul.
If the resurrection is true, it is of “infinite importance,” and if false, is “of no importance,” Huff said, quoting C.S. Lewis.
“In the face of the available data, the most responsible conclusion is that the resurrection actually happened,” Huff says, laying out the evidence.
He highlights the multiple, independent eye-witness accounts that corroborate the event, adding that other witnesses could have refuted the claims if they were fabricated. The earliest records of the resurrection and resulting spread of Christianity pre-date any records of Julius Caesar or Alexander the Great, which historians universally affirm, Huff explains.
“This Easter, I invite you to look at Jesus, consider what he said and did, and ask for yourself what I believe is the most important question you will ever answer: Did he really leave behind an empty tomb? And if he did, what does that mean for you?”
