The approval rating for congressional Democrats is “lower than the Dead Sea,” according to recent polling analyzed on CNN.

Analyst Harry Enten said the party was “55 points underwater” in late December, meaning voters overwhelmingly disapprove of its elected lawmakers.

The gap is even worse among independent voters, at minus 61 points. Even registered Democrats disapprove of the party’s performance – a first since polling began in the early 2000s.

“They have never found Democrats, at least those in Congress, in worse shape than they are right now,” Enten said.
