Media misinformation about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers has gotten so bad according to the Department of Homeland Security, the agency says it’s now releasing a weekly video to set the record straight.
In Sunday’s video, DHS Deputy Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis tells what really happened during arrests in Los Angeles and Chicago, which the media described as ICE “beating people up,” targeting a daycare and driving off with a detainee’s baby in the car.
Bis said that what the reports “conveniently left out” was that the men arrested had attacked ICE – with one of them having a stolen pistol in his vehicle and another grabbing an agent’s genitals. Bis also explained that agents aren’t targeting daycares or schools, something alleged after an illegal immigrant was arrested as she sought shelter in a daycare while fleeing from officers.
“Our officers are facing a 1,000% increase in assaults, (and) an 8,000% increase in death threats against them as they put their lives on the line every single day to arrest criminal illegal aliens, including murderers, rapists, abusers and gang members,” Bis said as pictures of prominent arrests flash on the screen.
“Secretary Noem’s message to the rioters is clear: You will not stop us or slow us down. ICE and our federal law enforcement partners will not apologize for enforcing this nation’s law,” she added, before urging viewers to “tune in next week.”
