Tears flowed freely at Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola on the Saturday before Thanksgiving as 29 incarcerated fathers gathered with their daughters for a father-daughter dance.
The event, the first of its kind at the prison, was sponsored by God Behind Bars, a Christian ministry to inmates and their families.
The dads, some of whom hadn’t seen their daughters in years, wore tuxedos and gave their daughters flowers. They also performed a choreographed dance to “Boots on the Ground,” by 803Fresh.
“She’s 17 and I’ve been gone 15 years,” says one man in the video. “She means everything. She’s my world. I would put my life on the line for my daughter.”
