One day after protesters disrupted a St. Paul church service, several dozen people staged a sit-in at a local Target to pressure the retailer to stop allowing federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol officials to use its bathrooms.

“We are one. We won’t stop fighting till ICE is gone,” protesters sang in a call-and-response.

“Target, do the right thing,” one woman shouted, as others called on the company to improve the lives of immigrants.

Protests have escalated in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area since an ICE agent shot and killed a woman who appeared to ram him with her car on Jan. 7, leading to an increase in violence.
