A young woman is painting patriotic murals across Ohio for her “Freedom Flag Mural Tour” to honor faith and political activist Charlie Kirk.

“Charlie Kirk spoke the truth, and the evil in this world tried to silence him. His voice is now louder than ever,” Erica Arndts said at a vigil Sept. 21 at the site of her first mural. “The magnitude of what happened to Charlie Kirk weighed on me extremely deeply, and I felt called to create something lasting, just like his passion and love for his country.”

After the assassination of Charlie Kirk Sept. 10, Arndts said she posted on Facebook asking if anyone had a wall for her to complete a mural honoring his legacy. A friend from high school offered her family’s barn in Waynesville, Ohio.

“This mural is my way of honoring his courage and his values of faith and freedom that we all share,” Arndts said at the dedication. “This mural is dedicated to Charlie Kirk, to this incredible country, and to everybody whose lost their life to senseless violence. And I pray the revival continues.”

Since then, Arndts has completed three “Freedom Flag” murals – all three on barns in southern Ohio. She completed her second Oct. 8 in Port Clinton and just finished her third on Monday in Lebanon.

“Charlie lit the flame and now it’s our turn to carry the torch to continue his good work,” she said

Arendts is continuing to travel to mural sites with her black lab and “trusty sidekick” George. She wants to paint more than 20 murals, she said in a post on X, asking anyone who wants a mural to contact her.

“I just hope it gives people a sense of peace and a reminder that we have really great freedoms in this country, and they should never be taken for granted,” she said
