Olympic gold medalist Elana Meyers Taylor encouraged women to live their dreams, even as moms.

“I just want to go out there and encourage women that just because you’re a mom doesn’t mean you have to stop living your dreams, even if they’re physical dreams,” the 41-year-old mother of two said after winning bobsled gold at the Milan-Cortina Olympics, becoming the oldest gold medalist in Winter Olympics history.

Meyers Taylor said she had plenty of help getting her body back in shape, including from her chiropractor husband, and that she wanted “to show that it’s possible to go out there and compete with 20-year-olds as a 41-year-old mom.”

She and her husband have two deaf children, including one with Down syndrome, and are outspoken about their faith.

“God put me here for a specific reason, and I don’t think it’s just to win medals,” she said in another interview. “At the end of the day, I’m in this sport to glorify God, so if that means I come in last place or I win the gold medal, that’s what I’m going to do.”
