Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Missouri, hammered Sen. John Ossoff, D-Georgia, Monday for opposing voter ID requirements, saying the Georgia lawmaker is politically vulnerable.

“He’s terrified because he’s the most vulnerable Democrat on the map,” Schmitt told Fox News’ Harris Faulkner. “He’s elected in the state of Georgia, which is a conservative state that has two Democrat U.S. senators.”

Ossoff criticized the SAVE Act after it passed the House last year. The legislation would require voters to prove citizenship before registering to vote in federal elections.

Schmitt called voter ID a common-sense issue, citing polling that show 80% of Americans support it.

During the segment, Faulkner aired a 2021 clip of Ossoff expressing support for voter ID and noted that his campaign requires photo identification for attendees at campaign events.
