When a reporter asked why the U.S. was blowing up “fishing boats” instead of seizing them “without killing anyone,” like when it seized an oil tanker this week, Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Missouri, was quick to respond.
“Fishing boats?” he asked incredulously. “The drug runners? Those aren’t fishing boats.”
Schmitt then defended the Trump administration’s actions to prevent “designated terrorist organizations who are cartels” from running “drugs that kill 100,000 Americans a year.”
“If you’re asking me if I have sympathy for narco-terrorists killing Americans, whose boats that are carrying the drugs that kill Americans, I don’t,” he continued. “I have sympathy for my neighbors in Missouri who’ve been poisoned, who died.
“And we finally have a president who cares about them more than the Democrats care about going down to El Salvador to drink margaritas with terrorists. That’s how I feel about it.”
