Mykale Baker stopped into Burger King after his high school graduation in Dacula, Georgia, to show off his medals, but decided to work a shift after finding the store full of customers.
His decision to serve, along with his infectious smile, caught the attention of Maria Mendoza, who recorded Baker while he was working the drive-thru.
“He was so kind, so polite,” she told WXIA-TV.
Mendoza posted the video online and later crowd-funded a scholarship for the graduate – who had been planning to take a gap year because he didn’t have enough funds for college. More than $200,000 was raised.
