President Donald Trump on Friday announced Washington, D.C., will host its first-ever IndyCar race as part of celebrations marking the nation’s 250th anniversary.
The Freedom 250 Grand Prix will take place Aug. 21–23, with drivers racing through the streets of the nation’s capital, Trump said.
The White House released a high-energy preview video featuring Trump aboard Marine One tracking a bald eagle, before cutting to footage of IndyCars racing at high speed.
The event is the latest in a series of high-profile initiatives tied to the upcoming semiquincentennial, highlighting American innovation, speed and national pride.
