The Environmental Protection Agency has clawed back $29 billion in grants since President Donald Trump took office last year, including funding awarded during the waning days of former President Joe Biden’s administration.
EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and Trump discussed the cancellation of a $2 billion grant awarded to an organization linked to Stacey Abrams, the former Democratic candidate for Georgia governor, during Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting.
“Stacey Abrams was given 2 billion for an account that had $103 in it, an environmental fraud I guess,” Trump said. “They had no reason for existence. They were unable to say what they did with it.”
“Thanks to your leadership, Mr. President, that was cancelled,” Zeldin said. “They no longer have access to that $2 billion.”
