In light of mounting evidence that masks do far more harm than good for school-aged children, it is baffling that some states continue to maintain statewide mask mandates, which many argue are illegal.
While most states do not currently have mask requirements for schools, 13 do. A few of those states are about to change course.
Here’s the rundown on the states and their school mask requirements:
Thirteen states currently have mask mandates for schools: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington.
Of those 13 states, five are lifting their mask mandates: Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island.
These changes are set to take effect in the coming weeks. Some states have said they are still determining a date to end school mask mandates. For the children impacted by these policies, change cannot come soon enough.
