Childhood mastectomies are up nearly 400% and the number of transgender children has doubled – shocking statistics former politician Tulsi Gabbard and others blame on the radical “woke” agenda pushed by healthcare professionals, educators and even the president.
A recently published research paper in the Journal of the American Medical Association of Pediatrics shows a 389% increase in children receiving mastectomies from 2016-19. Meanwhile, the number of transgender youths has doubled in the past five years, according to a UCLA School of Law’s Williams Institute study.
“It’s no accident the number of transgender youth doubled in the last 5 years, and children mastectomies are up 389%,” Gabbard wrote in a tweet that included a video of the former Democrat discussing the issue. “It’s a direct result of the radical ‘woke’ agenda being pushed on our kids by so-called ‘healthcare professionals,’ MSM/social media, and even Biden directly.”
“This didn’t just happen,” she says in the video. “This is very intentional and it’s the consequence of this radical agenda that is being pushed on our kids. They’re rejecting the existence of objective reality by rejecting this most fundamental truth of the differences between a biological male and female.
“Now, even as there are no long-term studies on the effects of these dangerous treatments on our kids, those in power in government and so-called medical professionals continue to push them. Many of the standard protocols that they are pushing include puberty blockers and hormones, some of which were just recently flagged by the FDA because of their plausible link to serious brain disorder, cognitive problems.”
The video concludes with Gabbard taking direct aim at President Biden.
“Now, that hasn’t stopped President Biden from going and telling parents that ‘affirming your child’s identity is one of the most powerful things you can do to keep them safe,’” she says, referencing a video the president tweeted out in March.
In the video, President Biden says:
“To everyone celebrating Transgender Day of Visibility, I want you to know that your president sees you. … Our entire administration sees you for who you are, made in the image of God and deserving of dignity, respect and support. But we know it’s hard when there are those out there who don’t see you and don’t respect you.
“For example, the onslaught of anti-transgender state laws attacking you and your families is simply wrong. This administration is standing up for you against all these hateful bills. And we’re committed to advancing transgender equality in the classroom, on the playing field, at work, in our military, in our housing and healthcare systems. Everywhere. Simply everywhere …”
While Gabbard is among the most prominent of those who’ve spoken out in opposition to the transgender treatments for minors, she is not the only one who disagrees with the president’s assessment.
“National Health Service England has advised that even social transition, such as changing a young person’s name and pronouns or the way that they dress, is not a ‘neutral act’ and could have ‘significant effects’ in terms of ‘psychological functioning,’” RedState reported in October. “Parent groups and various professionals have long raised concerns that NHS medics have taken an ‘affirmative’ approach to treating children, including using their preferred names and pronouns. …
“NHS says its new clinical approach for young children will ‘reflect evidence that in most cases gender incongruence does not persist into adolescence,’ and doctors should be mindful that this might be a ‘transient phase.’”
Moreover, nearly 80% of likely voters are utterly opposed to transgender surgeries on minors, says a survey by The Trafalgar Group.
Dr. Elena Fishbein, president of No Left Turn in Education, agrees with Gabbard that there’s a link between the Left’s pushing of radical transgender ideology and the increased number of children who then identify as transgender and seek “gender-affirming” care.
“We see what’s happening in school today,” Fishbein said in a Fox News interview in which she blasted educators for causing the “exponential increase” in children second-guessing their gender identity.
“When kids are entering kindergarten, the way their teacher is greeting them is by asking them for their pronouns. In fact, in classes in an elementary school, every class is starting with the teaching asking them [about their pronouns] … There’s this whole process in the school that has definitely become the pipeline for that outrageous transgender and gender ideology.”
Noting there is no known biological reason behind the disturbing trend in childhood sex changes, Fishbein also slammed the hypocrisy of those who support “gender-affirming” care for children while condemning tattoos for minors. She notes a recent report by the New York Times that cites multiple cases of parents being arrested for allowing their children as young as 10 to get tattoos.
“It is a permanent mark or a symbol you are putting on your body, and I don’t think kids under 18 have that kind of agency to make a decision. We need to look at these laws again,” said Dr. Cora Breuner, a physician with the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Despite her stance against tattoos for the very young, Breuner has recently come under fire for co-authoring an AAP study that supports “gender-affirming” care for minors.
“Every commonsense person would identify that is outrageous and insane,” Fishbein told Fox News.
“Unfortunately, yes, there is a serious problem with kids who are suffering from gender dysphoria or confusion about their identity or sexual identity,” Fishbein said. But she questioned doctors’ commitment to their Hippocratic Oath to do no harm when they’re prescribing and administering permanent, mutilating treatments before ruling out non-invasive therapies “that are not going to have consequences – physical or mental – for the rest of their lives.”
