‘Final straw.’ Elon Musk vows to move X and SpaceX to Texas after Newsom signs anti-parental rights bill

Three years after moving Tesla’s Headquarters from California to Texas, the world’s richest man, who became a Texan himself in 2020, has declared he will do the same with X (formerly Twitter) and SpaceX.
The three companies combined are valued at over $1 trillion.
The latest move is once again a response to draconian state policies, according to Musk.
“The governor of California just signed a bill causing massive destruction of parental rights and putting children at risk for permanent damage,” Musk posted to X.
“This is the final straw,” declared Musk in another post. “Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies, SpaceX will now move its HQ from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas.”
“And 𝕏 HQ will move to Austin,” he added in another post.
The bill, AB 1955, is euphemistically called “The Support Academic Futures and Educators for Today’s Youth,” or SAFETY Act. It prohibits school boards from passing parental notification policies that would require teachers and school staff to let parents know when their children transition genders.
Musk is among many California parents now revolting over the law they feel flies in the face of their constitutional rights as parents, similar to how some Californians objected to the state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In fact, the billionaire moved himself and Tesla in late 2020 and early 2021 from California to Texas due to the state’s strict lockdown policies, which he called “fascist,” The New York Times reported.
Musk even says he warned Newsom months ago that such radical progressive laws would drive businesses and families out of the state.
“I did make it clear to Governor Newsom about a year ago that laws of this nature would force families and companies to leave California to protect their children,” the entrepreneur posted.
Musk has yet to reveal a timeline for the moves.
