As more states ban cell phones during the school day, schools are increasingly using locking bags to keep students off their devices.

Magnetic locking bags, such as ones made by Yondr, Lockr or PhoneSack, keep a student’s cell phone sealed and disconnected from data while inside.

The bags are popular in schools and have also been used in court rooms and at music concerts to prevent unauthorized recording.

Students use a magnetic “unlocking” station after school to open their devices.
