(Daily Caller News Foundation) – A Florida father with a Louisville Slugger confronted a suspected “Peeping Tom” peering through his daughter’s bedroom window, FOX35 reported Tuesday.
The father, who told FOX35 that the suspect had been disturbing neighbors for a year, staked out a hiding spot in his backyard and waited for the suspect to arrive.
Video from the Sept. 13 incident in Flagler County exclusively shared with FOX35 shows the dad chasing the man down the street and yelling, “Where you going, boy? Come here … Come here … I got something for you.”
That “something” was a large Louisville slugger baseball bat, the father told FOX35.
“I said a couple choice words, and when he turned toward me, I swung the bat,” the dadsaid. “It didn’t seem to faze him, he was a pretty big dude, so I was going to go for his head, and when I did, he started to run.”
The suspect, who had been caught creeping around windows in the past, was seen just the day before outside the same house, FOX35 reported.
“[My wife] sees a silhouette of a guy in the backyard in the pouring rain, just staring at me,” the dad said. “I don’t know how long he was there, but I was totally oblivious to it. She screamed and scared him off.”
The father said he had filed numerous reports about the suspect, but this time he took matters into his own hands.
“I sat in the chair, I grabbed a beer and a baseball bat,” he said, according to FOX35. “I didn’t think he would show up because who has the nerve to show up at the exact same time that the cops were called to a place the next night?”
Police arrested 29-year-old Damon Smith, who allegedly said that he gets his thrills walking around people’s property, FOX35 reported.
Smith, who was wearing a Michael Myers T-shirt with the words “EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO ONE GOOD SCARE” across the front, was charged with aggravated stalking, voyeurism and prowling, FOX35 reported.
He is being held on an $86,000 bond.
