Lubbock, Texas, residents sprang into action to help two sheriff’s deputies who were pinned to the side of a bridge after their vehicle was hit by a semitruck Monday.
According to NBC News, Deputies Andrew Cavazos and Jorge Martinez were outside their vehicle helping a driver change a flat tire when the accident occurred.
Cavazos was seen dangling from the I-27 overpass, but local plumbers at a nearby gas station brought a ladder and ropes to help rescue him.
“There is no question … that lives were saved yesterday as a direct result of those citizens jumping in and helping,” Lubbock County Sheriff Kelly Rowe told local media.
