The Carroll Independent School District (ISD) is considering a resolution to terminate its relationship with the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB).

The resolution, which will be voted on in Monday’s board meeting, explains that TASB does “not align with the values of the majority of Texans.”

As one example, the document cites the lengthy amount of time – eight months – it took the TASB to end its membership with the National School Boards Association (NSBA) when the latter attempted to crack down on parents.

According to a recent congressional report, the NSBA conspired with the Biden administration to label parents as “domestic terrorists” for protesting at school board meetings. Attorney General Merrick Garland used the NSBA’s language as a pretext to open federal investigations into such parents.

The resolution also charges that “TASB actively promotes, through training and conferences, divisive political ideologies as a professional development opportunity for school district administrators and board members.”

TASB also has a history of insulting the community it is supposed to serve.

Former TASB president Robert Seward publicly accused parents of acting like bullies, while himself refusing to listen to real complaints from parents about declining academic performance and increasing politicized instruction.

“It’s almost like a bully sometimes in a schoolyard,” Seward told local Dallas TV News 8 last month, referring to parents. “He didn’t get his way; he wants to just holler and scream and then finally use the fists. Well, that doesn’t get you anywhere.”

There is no evidence that any Texas parents have committed any act of violence or made any threat to a school board member.

Far from being terrorists, two Texas parents were arrested at their local school board meeting for simply addressing the board. Now the parents are suing the district.

“It will set a precedent that will also stop similar actions occurring across Texas and America,” said Jeremy Story, one of the arrested parents, according to the Texas Scorecard.

“This ultimately will help parents and community members hold school boards accountable to focusing on core academics rather than pushing their own extraneous political agendas on children,” Story added about the lawsuit.

The Carroll ISD resolution notes that the services it will lose from the TASB can be replaced by other entities, with competition bringing lower prices and better service.

“Now Be It Hereby Resolved: that the Carroll Independent School District intends to not renew its membership in TASB for CY 2024 or any year thereafter,” concludes the resolution.
