So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” — Acts 9:6 NKJV
How would God have me steward the free will that He gave me? We need not stray far from the opening pages of Genesis to hear God calling for Adam (whom He gave free will) to obey Him. “You shall not eat from this tree”. And when the man (and his wife) disobeyed, they were clearly accountable for using their free will to disobey God. God gave us all free will, but notice, we are still accountable for how we use it. Our obedience to God is due to God because He IS God!
So then, how shall we use this, (or any gift) God gave to us? In obedience to His great plan for us. We are created beings and our goal is to keep Him in the rightful position of Creator. My goal should be to submit my will to His will and to take His will as my will.
Notice Paul’s request in the first part of Acts 9:6: “And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?” This should serve as a great example to us of what stewardship of free will looks like! May you and I model it for others, today!
