U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a brief Oval Office press conference on Monday, previewing peace talks with European leaders on the Ukraine-Russia conflict.

Neither Trump nor Zelenskyy revealed too many details on possible demands or concessions to the end the war between Ukraine and Russia, but both said they are open to a trilateral meeting that would include Russian President Vladimir Putin, who Trump said is “expecting my call when we’re finished with this meeting.”

Zelenskyy said he wants security guarantees as part of any deal, which Trump said he’s open to and would be discussed.

The European leaders who have also gathered for the meeting are:

  • NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte
  • European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen
  • British Prime Minister Keir Starmer
  • French President Emmanuel Macron
  • German Chancellor Friedrich Merz
  • Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni
