A pregnant woman incarcerated in Florida experienced a shocking – and heartwarming – surprise when two deputies threw her a lavish baby shower.
Days before giving birth to a healthy baby boy, Taylor, the inmate, received “everything you could possibly think of” from two detention deputies, who bought the gifts to help her turn her life around.
Taylor, who was arrested while six months pregnant, is part of the SMART program, which guides inmates in breaking old habits, learning new skills and building a more stable life, Fox 35 Orlando reported.
“She’s really, really working that program, and she’s making changes inside of herself that hopefully have a long-lasting effect with her,” said Justine Crego, one of the deputies.
Kingston Ryder was born Dec. 11, “weighing 8 pounds, 12 ounces and measuring 20.5 inches long,” according to a post from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. “Mom is also healthy and in good spirits.”
